 Vital Information
« Thread Started on Jun 29, 2006, 10:38am »

This, unlike the introduction, will be straightforward and factual. Note, this is not the plot discussion, but it does have our basic storyline. This will be kept short and sweet for quick reference. Note, this is information that has to be known, not the plot discussion board.

Plot Introduction

The whole game starts out with a fairly simple society vs. society conflict. In our fictional nation called Asmara, the people believe that a canine God named Vir is the guardian of the dead who leads souls to the afterlife, and dogs are his "workers". Dogs are considered to be sacred, and it is said that when a dog dies they do not go to the afterlife, but instead return to Vir to be reincarnated.

Dogs too believe in Vir, but not all of them. The conflict arises with the beginning of the heretics, or non-believers, who go against the conventional beliefs of Vir. It's not uncommon for the religious leaders of the canine world to preform sacrifices, and to use their position of power against their fellows. It's this nature that the heretics rebel against, and their rejection of the God Vir is what sets them apart from the rest of the canine population.

Not all believers are hateful of heretics, and it works both ways. While their are extremists on both sides, there are also the more neutral of the scale, those who are undecided about their beliefs, and still those who simply want to exist in peace.

This RPG is set in the fictional nation of Asmara. It is a densely populated, but very isolated country, with most people living in one central city surrounded by wilderness. Such as the cows of India, dogs are considered to be sacred, and only rarely are kept as companion animals. They are considered to be the helpers of the worshipped god Vir, a canine deity who leads the souls of dead men to the afterlife. Dogs are said to aide Vir, and to keep evil spirit out of the afterlife, and when the canines themselves die, they are to be reincarnated once again. It's a cycle of life that is upheld by almost all citizens, and dogs are held in high regard.

However, even the largest city in Asmara is nothing like New York. The entire nation, save for its leaders, are stricken with poverty. It is a poor, developing country that remains in a political war with itself, keeping man uneducated and constantly at risk from his neighbor. Even while canines are protected, it's still a dangerous place to be, and being caught in the crossfire can be a deadly mistake.
